About the Story
Koa never meant to find the book that would change everything. But once its worn, hidden pages fall open in his hands, the world he knows disappears, replaced by the Enchanted Kingdom, a place alive with spells, riddles, and secrets he was never meant to uncover.
In the real world, Koa is the boy who doesn’t quite fit in. At school, he’s misunderstood. At home, his overworked mom doesn’t know how to reach him. Even his younger brother, Noah, can’t see who he really is. But in the Enchanted Kingdom, Koa quickly learns that the magic swirling around him is tied to his own family’s past, truths no one ever told him
The kingdom is full of rules he doesn’t understand, strangers who seem to know more about him than he knows about himself, and challenges that will test him in ways he’s never faced. The only way home is to uncover the truth about who he is and what he’s capable of.
To make it back, Koa must do something he’s never been able to do before: believe in himself. Along the way, he’ll discover that confidence can be its own kind of magic, and that some journeys change you forever.
Inspiration Behind the Story
I wrote Koa and the Kingdom of Hidden Secrets for every child who has ever felt overlooked or out of place.
As a mom and former teacher, I’ve seen how deeply confidence shapes the way our children move through the world. This book began as bedtime stories for my sons, stories about bravery, belonging, and the magic that lives inside each of us.
Through Koa’s adventure, I hope every reader walks away believing that they, too, carry something powerful and unshakable within them.
Beyond the Pages
Koa and the Kingdom of Hidden Secrets inspired The Confidence Library, a literacy and social-emotional learning program that brings read-alouds and workshops to schools and families.
Our mission is to help kids everywhere build confidence, one story, and one crumb, at a time.
