Our Social Impact

Our Social Impact

At Bold Crumb House, baking has always been about more than desserts. As a former Detroit teacher and a mom of young athletes, our founder Jennifer Lyle saw firsthand how confidence, literacy, and encouragement can change a child’s life.

So alongside our baking business, we dedicate a portion of our proceeds and time to serving students through school-based read-alouds and confidence-building workshops.

What We Do

• Visit local schools, youth teams, and community centers
• Lead interactive read-aloud sessions that spark imagination and build reading confidence
• Facilitate confidence workshops focused on teamwork, self-belief, and emotional growth
• Provide books and treats to celebrate learning and positive behavior

These sessions are especially meaningful for student-athletes and active learners who may struggle with reading confidence or classroom engagement.

Why It Matters

In cities like Detroit, many students are still reading below grade level, and confidence gaps often follow children from the classroom into sports, friendships, and life. We believe every child deserves to see themselves as a reader, a leader, and a dreamer.

When kids hear stories, share affirmations, and celebrate small wins together, something powerful happens, they start believing in themselves.

How Our Customers Help

Every cookie box, pie, and corporate order helps us fund school visits, books, and workshop materials. Our customers are part of every smile, every story time, and every confidence circle we create.

Together, we are turning crumbs into confidence.
